Work No. 2011; 210mm x 148mm, pen and ink on paper
Following on from the success of the Mk1 Spyfish (The Fish That's a Lasagne, original blueprints sadly lost), here's the Mk2. Designed for passing secret messages to agents in the field.
Basically the secret agent strolls nonchantly into a pub/restaurant and orders a steak and ale pie. The pie is prepared and the specially trained fish is placed in the pie. Once the meal is served, the fish can relay messages to the agent using coded tail-wagging and head-bobbing. With the message conveyed, the secret agent complains about the meal, "Waiter there's a fish in my steak pie!", and the dish is returned to the kitchen whereupon the trained fish can make its escape.
Note the improvement in the Mk2: it has a set of 'aqualungs' allowing the fish to draw water from a nearby glass to its gills. This allows the Mk2 to overcome the main drawback of the Mk1 – the fish kept suffocating before they could pass on their message.
