Work No. 0902; 210mm x 148mm, pencils on paper
Based on another frequent nightmare I often have. In this dream the walls are crawling with spiders, hundreds or thousands of spiders! Might not be a problem to some of you but I do suffer with a fear of the eight-legged horrors. I felt the urge to do this picture when I caught sight of the lampshade in my bedroom and had the idea of hundreds of spiders crawling out of it. The lampshade hangs above my bed so this idea would be truly horrible for me!
Again, similar to Nightmare I, I was trying to use light more to define the objects in the image as well as forcing myself to not use any hard, defining edges. Another thing to note is the image is 'on the slant'. With this image, and Nightmare I, I decided to alter my normal compositional technique by not having lines running straight with the edge of the paper.
