A Glorious Team in the Corps

Jobby paints figures for the first time in decades…

Needs Some Colour!

I recently bought Aliens: Another Glorious Day in the Corps purely because I love those Xenos! After one play, though, I realised that telling one little, green plastic guy apart from another little, green plastic guy was proving difficult in the middle of a firefight. In fact, Sarah and I were happily playing Ripley as Frost for half of our first play!

Well, I used to paint figures. It was 20 or 30 years ago but I used to do it. I’m sure I could do it again. Surely?

I bought a set of Vallejo Game Colour paints, pinched some primer off my friend Rob and set to. I learned a few things:

  1. Really good light is incredibly important.
  2. My eyes are not as young as they used to be.
  3. Painting the parts before assembling the figures might have been a good idea.
  4. Really good light is incredibly important.
  5. I think I need glasses!

All that said, I think they turned out all right. I tried to get as much detail on the marines as I dared. I also painted a coloured ring on the bases to help distinguish the figures during play.

Here’s some pics of how they turned out:

Gorman, Vasquez, Hicks, Frost and Hudson.
The squad in the wild.
Ultimate badasses!
